Nellie

Miss Nellie was born on December 4th at 3am. Her mom (a Montebeliarde first time heifer - she is sired by a black angus bull) showed no interest in being a mother so she came directly in the house. She was given freeze dried colostrum that I had saved from cows calving this last summer and freeze dried. Within an hour of birth she drank a full bottle and was given a tri shield first defense vaccine.
A few hours later we will milked her mom and she recieved 1.5 more gallons of colostrum throughout the day. Now eating a full bottle of raw milk from the dairy herd every morning and evening.
Love this calf!! She is full of personality and knows her name…not because I’m always yelling at her🙃 as she just jumped out of her calf hut to chase a customer up the drive way for more scratches. Comes running to her name! Super sweet and would be a very productive cow for any herd! Raising the biggest calf or being a nice little producer for anyone wanting a future milk cow! Her mom is currently producing 5.5 gallons a day.
