Position: English Language Art Teacher (Grades 7–12)

District: Stockton USD #271
Location: Stockton, Kansas
Contract Year: 2026-2027
Position Begins: August 2026

Position Summary

Stockton USD #271 is seeking a dynamic, student-centered English / Art Teacher for grades 7–12. The successful candidate will provide engaging instruction in secondary English Language Arts, foster creativity and critical thinking, and contribute positively to a collaborative school culture in a small-school setting.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Teach English Language Arts and Art courses for grades 7–12

  • Develop and deliver instruction aligned with Kansas College and Career Ready Standards

  • Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment

  • Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs

  • Assess student learning and provide timely feedback

  • Integrate literacy, creativity, and critical thinking skills across content areas

  • Support student behavior, attendance, and social-emotional development

  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues

  • Collaborate with staff on curriculum development and school improvement initiatives

  • Participate in professional development and district activities

  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration

Qualifications

  • Valid Kansas Teaching License with appropriate endorsement(s) in English Language Arts and/or Art (or ability to obtain by August 1, 2026)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (Master’s degree preferred)

  • Experience teaching secondary English and/or Art preferred

  • Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills

  • Ability to build positive relationships with students in a small-school environment

  • Willingness to teach multiple preps and contribute to extracurricular or school activities
