I am hoping some life-long NW Kansas residents might be able to fill in a few pieces of a local story that started 3-4 decades ago. The story I’m referring to is an effort by a local organization to save the life of a Ukrainian Spy and find a solution that was mutually beneficial rather than allow the FBI to imprison him for a substantial amount of time. I’ve done my research, as tedious and painful as it’s been and I’ve discovered a significant effort to change traditional thinking to ideas that were longer-lasting and more beneficial for family, friends, and country. I’ve tracked down the original FBI group that was responsible for investigating Peter Chycaliuk, and some of the local people responsible for proactively fighting for a better solution, however, individually they have been tight-lipped and understandably so, but with a larger effort perhaps this amazing story could shine through.
