DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Processes and books prisoners, maintains prisoner safety and monitors prisoner activities; answers and directs incoming telephone calls; fields questions, concerns and complaints from the general public; obtains necessary information from callers, and contacts fire and emergency medical service as needed; performs vehicle identification number inspections; performs typing, filing and photo copying duties; maintains and updates departmental records; washes dishes, empties trash, moping, and cleans the jail and jail office area; disburses prisoner medication as needed; maintains inventory and advises when supplies are low; performs computer duties; transports prisoners; serves meals to prisoners, and performs other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Adverse working conditions exist within this position. Involves contact with dangerous persons, exposure to hazardous materials, human blood and body fluids, noise, and noxious odors. Subject to call-out and shift work, etc.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is strenuous, involves lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, prolonged standing, and numerous trips back and forth to court.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED is required; must have a valid Kansas driver's license.
