Description

Antique Rullman Wringer Washing Machine (Circa 1905–1908) – Early Flywheel-Driven Model – Excellent Condition

Offered for sale is a rare and very early Rullman wringer washing machine, manufactured by the Rullman Bros. Manufacturing Company in St. Joseph, Missouri.

This is not a later common model—this machine features an early mechanical design that places it right at the turn of the 20th century, approximately 1905–1908.

Key Features:

  • Hand-powered reciprocating (back-and-forth) crank
  • Large external flywheel drive system
  • Square galvanized steel tub
  • Original gear-driven wringer (fixed position)
  • Unusual round agitator with four raised lobes
  • Cast component marked “47” (likely original part number)

Condition:

  • Overall very good antique condition
  • Mechanism turns and operates
  • Clean, solid metal with typical age wear
  • A well-preserved example, especially considering its age (~120 years)

Why this piece is special:
Most surviving wringer washers are later, rotary-crank models from the 1910s–1920s. This example represents an earlier engineering phase, with a flywheel-driven agitation system that is far less commonly found today.

An excellent piece for:

  • Antique machinery collectors
  • Early household technology collections
  • Farm or homestead displays
  • Rustic or industrial decor
