Description

I spent about a year and a half building this Jeep from early 2018 to September 2020 and then sold it shortly thereafter!  I recently had a chance to buy it back and I did. It had been in storage for quite some time!  It has a little over 4,000 miles on the rebuild.

When I was building this Jeep, I wanted the best street performance I could get with the least amount of time and money!  I built the Jeep for the street and highway; I did not build it for off-roading!  It is for lack of a better description a LITTLE STREET MONSTER!!  And that is exactly what it is!  I decided to run 31" tires for gas mileage and some semblance of highway roadability rather than the look that the 33's or 35's offer!  I do like the look of the larger tires, but they rob you of power and gas mileage, and the gearing would have to be completely different.  I believe this tire and gearing to be the best set-up for street use, gas mileage and power.  You can be the judge of what follows:

  • The motor is an SBC 350 Gen 1(it was already in the Jeep when I bought it, but very tired!) bored .030 over, .030 over stock hypereutectic pistons, aluminum NKB heads from Skip White with 200cc runners and 64cc combustion chambers and 2.02/1.60 stainless valves.  Comp Cams roller setup with 12-412-8 extreme energy roller camshaft, retro-fit hydraulic roller lifters and aluminum roller rockers;1.6 ratio with 3/8" studs and pushrods all from Comp Cams except the studs they are ARP.  The distributor is a D.U.I. (Davis Unified Ignition) crossfire with Street/Strip coil kit custom built for this motor and the plug wires are LiveWires both from Performance Distributors.  Edlebrock Performer EPS aluminum dual plane intake and CVS 650 CFM carb with electric choke and Holley electric fuel pump.  It has a 3-row aluminum radiator and a 3300 CFM electric fan and shroud made by Flex-A-Lite specifically for the Jeep Wrangler SBC conversion!  It has a set of shorty stainless headers and true 2.5" dual exhaust to match the header's outlets with Flowmaster 40 series mufflers and 16" polished stainless straight exhaust tips that go straight out the back. This motor will create around 350 HP and about 410 lb-ft of torque at the flywheel.  Stepping up from standard 1.5 ratio roller rockers to 1.6 ratio increased the valve lift from roughly .490" to around .520" of lift. This allows for an extra 15–20 horsepower out of the engine by taking full advantage of the high-flowing NKB aluminum heads, optimum for 91 octane pump gas.

  • Transmission is a Level 2, 700R4  good to 500 HP built by Monster Transmissions in Alpharetta, GA with a 2400 stall converter.  The shifter is a B&M Hammer shifter.

  • Rear differential is an Eaton TrueTrac Detroit LSD posi with 3:55 gears and upgraded chrome-moly axles.  Front differential is Dana 30 with stock 3:55 gears and axles.  The transfer case is an NP231 J, and the shifter, if I remember correctly, was made by Novak Conversions.  New drive shafts, front and rear. I just had it over to Hays Car & Truck Alignment and had the front end checked out and it is in perfect condition.  I recently removed some degreed shims from the rear axle to alleviate a driveshaft vibration problem and replaced the U-bolts on both sides.

  • The tub is rust free! I coated the inside of the tub with Rust-Oleum bed coating and then lined it with Kilmat 80 mil heat barrier and sound deadener.  It has carpet thru out (it had none when I purchased it). The front seats are second row seats out of a Dodge Grand Caravan(don't remember the year) They have headrests and armrests. I made some adapters from 1/4" plate aluminum and bolted the seats to it and then to the original Jeep seat brackets. The fit very nicely!  I  had the rear bench seat upholstered to match them.  The console was in the Jeep when I purchased it (not the nicest, but it serves its purpose).  It has the original leather wrapped steering wheel and tilt column!   All the gauges in the stock dash 7 gauge cluster work, Tach, speedo, water temp, fuel, clock,(yes, the stock clock works) oil press,  and voltage!  I replaced the stock tachometer with a VDO aftermarket 7k and the glove box is a custom metal design that locks.  It has an aftermarket Rostra Cruise control and a Pioneer Stereo CD Player with Bluetooth and each door has a 4” x 6” 2-way Pioneer coaxial speaker and there is an overhead soundbar by VDP with 2-6” woofers, 2-2” midrange and 2-1” tweeters and two led interior lights.  There is no amp!  I originally had an amp for the stereo under the back seat, but it stopped working and I never replaced it!  I put 3/8" closed cell foam insulation on the underside of the hard top to help insulate and dampen outside noise. The interior is in super condition!

  • It has LED lighting all around, interior overhead and dash lighting and exterior.

  • The A/C evaporator is not the stock Jeep under-dash version but aftermarket under-dash.  I recently converted the belt drives on the motor to CVF Racing’s serpentine setup, and I installed a new Sanden (not aftermarket) SD7H15 A/C Compressor which has 7 cylinders not the traditional 5.

  • The body is straight and the hard top, body and doors have been sprayed with bedliner.  It originally had full doors on it when I purchased it, but they were in bad shape, and I replaced them with half doors and new uppers by Rally Tops.  The lift now is what it was when I purchased it; I have done nothing to it.

  • I replaced the front windshield and frame when I purchased the jeep, and it has the original windshield wiper set up from the old frame.  It has a rear windshield wiper and washer.  The rear tire carrier was an add-on.  I have a bikini top for it as well.

  • Tires are not new but still have about 75-80% of the tread left.  The 5 wheels are Dick Cepek DC-2’s, 15” x 8” and the 5 tires are Dick Cepek Extreme Country 31 x 10.5-50R15LT’s.

I know this is a lot to take in, but I have probably forgotten to mention one thing or another!  I just wanted interested parties to know what they would be getting for their money!

In my opinion, this is not a show vehicle, but it is in outstanding condition for its age!  I also know that it is not as sought after as the CJ, but this is a sweet ride even though it is a YJ!  You would be hard pressed to find a more solid, rust-free 36+ year old Jeep!  I use it as a daily driver to and from work and any place else I want to go, so the miles will go up.  I spent a lot of time and effort making it what it is, but I am at the age that it really isn't what I should be driving.  I know this build isn’t for everybody, but I also know that it is exactly what someone other than me will get excited about and just can’t live without!  I would be open to trades for a 92-99 4WD suburban fully loaded in like condition or??  I can be contacted at 7eight53two4twosix5seven.

If you can't converse with me via this website or on the phone, don't bother me by asking me if it is still available and requesting me to email you at another outside email address!  That just tells me you are a scammer! So don't waste my time or yours!
