Position Summary

KBK Industries LLC is looking for a dependable and safety-focused Pilot Car Driver to escort oversize loads. The driver will work closely with truck drivers, dispatchers, and other pilot car operators to ensure loads are transported safely and efficiently.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Escort oversize loads along designated routes.
• Operate a pilot/escort vehicle equipped with required safety equipment and signage.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the pilot vehicle and equipment.
• Maintain constant communication with the transport driver and other escort vehicles.
• Monitor road conditions, traffic, bridges, construction zones, overhead obstructions, and other potential hazards.
• Assist the transport driver with safe navigation through turns, intersections, narrow roads, and other challenging areas.
• Communicate with law enforcement, road authorities, and other personnel when necessary.
• Verify routes and identify potential clearance or safety concerns before and during transport.
• Follow all company policies and applicable state and federal oversize-load escort regulations.
• Represent the company professionally while interacting with customers, transportation personnel, and the public.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Previous pilot car, escort vehicle, trucking, or transportation experience preferred.
• Strong communication and situational-awareness skills.
• Ability to work independently and make sound safety decisions.
• Must be dependable, safety-conscious, and professional.

Physical & Work Requirements

• Ability to sit and drive for extended periods.
• Ability to frequently travel and work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
• Ability to remain alert and focused for extended periods.

Safety Responsibilities

Safety is the highest priority of this position. The Pilot Car Driver is expected to identify potential hazards, communicate concerns immediately, and take appropriate action to protect the oversize load, other motorists, company personnel, and the public.
