The TS R Series The models formally known as Daytona, the TS 1000 R and TS 770 R return with new names and a few seemingly minor improvements. One, however, may be more important than you might think. That’s the new sculpted seat. Tigershark is using a thicker and cushier foam this year, a development which should improve the quality of the ride immensely. Last year, the ride in rough water could get tiring, in no small part because you could feel the seat base through the foam. The other changes are more subtle. On the TS 1000 R, the intake manifold has been redesigned to improve acceleration. It also gets a new beefed up drive coupler. The TS 770 R also gets a new drive coupler, as well as a simplified routing system for the engine cooling water. It includes a new self-draining water jacket and a reduced number of hoses and clamps, lessening the chances for a leak or crack. Otherwise, the boats are similar to last year, with the same sleek decks and pointed bows. Also back is the the MAD (Multi-Angle Deadrise) hull which has been used on the craft since 1996. The dimensions have remained the same (111-inches long, 43 inches wide), and the design still features multiple angles on the deadrise (25 degrees on the inner angle and 21 on the outside angle) to provide a mix of stability, turning ability and a soft ride. The engine have returned with the same basic configurations. The TS 1000 R uses a 999cc in-line Suzuki triple, essentially the same engine as found on last year’s Daytona 1000. The engine boasts a bore x stroke of 81mm x 64.5mm and a compression ratio of 6.1:1. Fuel will again be supplied by three 40mm Mikuni carburetors with accelerator pumps to provide more specific fuel volumes throughout the power band, but the lubrication will now be provided by variable rate system, which should reduce smoking and low end bog. The engine also uses Nicasil-plated cylinders which dissipate heat better than conventional cylinders, thereby improving the engine’s durability. The horsepower rating remains at 115hp.TS 1000R is 120-130hp
