Job Summary: A “hands on” Information Technology (IT) team manager to work in collaboration with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Larned State Hospital and the KDADS Chief Information Officer in Topeka, to manage multiple IT functions. The IT Manager will be responsible for the networks, security administration, systems, and related IT equipment and the management of the staff dedicated to the support of various system environments, at the Larned State Hospital (LSH) campus.  This includes the purchase and maintenance of IT equipment and related operating systems and vendor maintenance agreements.  In addition, this position will be responsible for program development and implemented applications used at LSH.

 

Job Description: This position will be responsible for security administration, network systems, including data and voice communications.  This position will also provide server platform support for multiple users, including the hardware, system and utility software, or direct staff in that support effort.  This position is responsible for data capture systems, processing and delivery system, applications software, web services, architecture of desktop and network systems, and project management.  This position is also responsible for the enterprise security for network devices and applications, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and desktop protection systems.  This position will manage the technical support staff that provides help desk support, equipment purchasing and installation, scheduled maintenance of equipment, and migration to newer versions of equipment and operating systems and program releases.

 

Minimum Competencies:

Requires skills in a complex technical environment, spanning from desktop hardware and applications, to server and network applications, and including threat protection software and solutions.  This position also requires Project Management (planning, executing, follow-up) and well developed communication skills and techniques for dealing with others (significant customer interaction) both on a technical as well as a non-technical level.

 

Preferred Criteria:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent education and experience, along with advanced technical or managerial credentials (e.g. Project Management Professional Certification, A++, etc.);
