Position Summary:This position is fundamental to privacy, security, and compliance and essential for the provision of high-quality, cost-effective, and safe healthcare. It is responsible for a large volume of information releases which is critical to the quality of the continuity of care provided to the patient by the Clinical Information Management Department. The health information released must be complete, appropriate, timely, and governed by federal laws and state statutes / regulations to fulfill its intended purpose in the complex medical and legal environment in which this position operates. It also plays an important role in billing, treatment information for court reports, research, and other treatment functions. This position participates in Natural Work Teams and/or Quality Action Teams by applying job knowledge to develop programs or process enhancements by using QM processes and tools.

Minimum Qualifications and Education: Two years of experience in general office, clerical and administrative support work. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.

Special requirements:

• Knowledge of HIPAA, state and federal guidelines on privacy, transactions and security
• Familiarity with healthcare relevant legislation and standards for the protection of health information and patient privacy
• \Ability to accurately interpret legal documents
• Ability to apply, interpret and explain operational rules, regulations, policies and procedure and make independent decisions
