Job Duty Description: This position supervises inmate laundry workers by reviewing and evaluating the work and planning the schedules for production and inspects the laundry process for adherence to standards.

Annual Salary range ($24,523.20-$32,760.00)  This position has an inmate supervision differential pay of 10% of the wage in addition to the base pay.

Minimum Qualifications:  Six months of experience in laundry work involving the operation of commercial scale laundry equipment.

Performance Standards: Supervises inmate laundry workers. Responsible for daily collection and delivery of all laundry.  Oversees sorting and weighing.  Uses accurate soap formulas in accordance with washer manual specifications.  Ensures drying time is enough to provide dry clothes and bags, clean/dry laundry.  Makes distribution of clean clothes to NCF inmates. Trains inmates in the operation of all machinery following safety and sanitation procedures.  Ensures inmates completely understand M.S.D.S. sheets on all laundry products and chemicals.  Follows maintenance schedule on all machines in accordance with manufacturer’s manuals, grease and oil, etc.  Monitors and reports any malfunctions or problems to laundry manager.  Ensures all Department of Corrections minimum and medium daily log sheets are completed including toxic and tool, laundry weigh in, laundry outgoing, piece count, etc. Trains and oversees inmates in all phases of Housekeeping in accordance with Department of Corrections procedure.  Performs work of Laundry Manager when necessary.  Performs other related duties as assigned

Preferred Requirements: Previous experience in supervising an institutional laundry operation.

Selection Process:  Applicants selected for interview will be evaluated by an interview panel using performance/behavior based interview questions, and possibly a performance or written test. The interview panel will make recommendations to the Warden for final approval.  A second interview may be conducted.  Applicants will be subject to background check and criminal history investigation; must pass a drug screen and a TB test unless promoting, transferring, or demoting from another safety sensitive position within the same agency.

Veteran Preference Eligible (VPE):  This position is eligible for veterans’ preference.  Interested veterans must submit a DD 214 to the Department of Administration to be verified as a veteran under K.S.A. 73-201 prior to the vacancy close date.  Verified veterans who meet the selection criteria for this position will be invited for an interview.
