Provides financial counseling services to all patients, including those presenting in the Emergency Department for treatment, those admitted to an inpatient bed, and those scheduled for outpatient diagnostic or surgical procedures. Self-pay patients identified in any setting are the Financial Counselor’s first priority.  Financial counseling services include:  identification/verification of existing payer sources, identifying alternative sources of payment (Medicaid or financial assistance), arranging payment schedules for medical services when necessary, identifying returning patients with accounts in bad debt, and collecting point-of-service payments (co-payments or co-insurance) as appropriate from insured patients.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education:   High school diploma or GED, however, additional clerical/business training is preferred for financial counselor position at GFHC.      

Minimum Experience:  Will consider new clerical/business school graduates, but would prefer 2-3 years professional experience as a registrar, billing office representative, or a related capacity.
