Clerk I (Materials Managment)

Position Summary:   The materials management clerk independently performs routine replenishment of inventories; processing and filling of supply requisitions; processing and stocking freight and supplies; and shipping and handling of outbound mail and freight.

Essential Functions:

  • Runs daily restock reports and replenishes stock; reports low inventory levels to buyers to prevent stock outages; corrects inventory discrepancies between inventory count & computer; maintains order and appearance of shelf inventory; assesses usage patterns of stock; and prevents overstock; reviews, and replenishes and delivers crash carts to pharmacy.
  • Receives, reviews, prioritizes and posts requisitions; pulls items from inventory to fill requisition; and delivers requisition or prepares for transport.
  • Verifies and documents incoming freight quantity; inspects freight for damage; reports shortages, inaccuracies or damage to buyers; reviews packing slip, purchase order and freight for accuracy; logs quantity into inventory software system; marks inventory with stock number; delivers, receives signature and logs specials order purchases; restock storeroom shelves; and files paperwork (purchase orders, packing slips and requisitions)

Education/Experience: High school graduate or equivalence preferred; experience in inventory and supply functions preferred.


Certificates and Licenses: a valid Kansas drivers license with an acceptable driving record and must be insurable through the medical center’s insurance carrier; additional certification may be required for certain patient care settings or populations. Specific information and the timeframe in which such certification must be attained will be provided by the department director/manager/supervisor at time of hire/transfer into department.
