JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a dedicated and nurturing individual to join our team as an Assistant Teacher. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic childcare environment, assisting in the care and education of young children. 

RESPONSIBILITIES    

  • Assist the lead teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and activities that promote the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of children. 

  • Provide a safe, clean, and stimulating environment for children to learn and play. 

  • Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring their safety at all times. 

  • Help with meal and snack preparation, as well as feeding and diapering as needed. 

  • Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues through effective communication and teamwork.

  • Assist in maintaining accurate records of children’s progress and development while maintaining confidentiality at all times.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Have a love for children and their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development

  • Previous experience working with young children in a childcare setting preferred. 

  • Classes in early childhood education are a plus.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with children, parents, and colleagues. 

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to maintain a positive and patient demeanor in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Must pass background check, pre-employment drug screening, and meet all state licensing requirements for childcare workers. 

  • Free from physical, mental, and emotional handicaps as necessary to protect the health, safety, and welfare of children. 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS   

Requires the physical ability and stamina to remain on feet and/or walk for long periods of time, push or pull wagons and other playground equipment. Must be able to engage in floor play and physical play with children. Requires extended periods of time sitting and/or standing.  Must be able to lift and transfer up to 50 lbs. Ability to see within normal parameters. Ability to hear within normal range. Ability to speak, read, and write English.

 

SCHEDULE

  • Full-time position

  • Monday through Friday, mornings start between 7:30 a.m. and 9 a.m., and the assistant’s day ends between 4:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., depending on the week’s schedule. 

  • Flexible scheduling may be available.
