Stock Trailer Features & Benefits

Explore the Featherlite stock trailer features & benefits!

All-Aluminum Construction

Featherlite customers have confidence in knowing their stock trailers are made with all aluminum frame and skin. Trailer owners prefer aluminum Featherlites’ higher payload capacity. Featherlites traditionally hold their value longer. With just routine maintenance, they have superior resistance to rust and corrosion. And since they are lighter in weight than comparable steel trailers, Featherlite customers report fuel savings and a smoother tow. Durable all-aluminum construction secures you many more miles of hauling.

Aluminum Side Panels

Starting with 2017 models, Featherlite’s stock trailers are built with sidewall extrusions that are thicker, allow for stronger welds and vertical tie ring integration and are more scratch resistant.

Uni-body Design

All components of the Featherlite stock trailer from side posts to roof rails to roof bows to cross members are engineered into a uni-body design. The uni-body design makes the trailer stronger and more durable for the long haul.

Thick Dock Bumper

Featherlite has a thick 4” dock bumper on the back of its livestock trailers. This gives farmers and ranchers improved shock absorption when backing up to gates.

Aluminum One-Piece Running Boards

The running boards on Featherlite livestock trailers feature a full-length, one-piece design. These running boards have a consistently wide platform over the length of the trailer. They are durable and hold up to repeated use in the toughest of conditions. Running boards are standard on select widths of stock trailers.

Aluminum Floor

Durability on the outside is also found inside. Most Featherlite livestock trailers come with a skid resistant extruded aluminum floor standard.

Slam Latch

With 2017 models, Featherlite has a new, redesigned slam latch that is stronger, easier to use and safer for you and your livestock. The slam latch features a one-piece extrusion that lies more flat to the side of the trailer and provides a cleaner finish to the exterior of your trailer, as the slam latch is installed within the interior of the trailer only.

PerfectFitTM System

The Featherlite PerfectFit System allows you to choose your trailer your way. Your trailer will come with a number of standard features. However, you can opt to alter these features for a trailer more suited to you. In addition to standard features, your trailer is available with a mix of optional accessories. Your Featherlite dealer will take you through a streamlined step-by-step process to discover the right livestock trailer for you quickly and easily.

L.E.D. Wraparound Lights

Most Featherlite trailers are outfitted with great-looking LED wraparound lights that give trailers more visibility when traveling down the road. L.E.D lights also use less energy and last longer than conventional lighting.

Tapered Gooseneck

The tapered gooseneck on Featherlite stock trailers creates better aerodynamics during travel.

Brawny Drop Gate

Featherlite redesigned its drop gate in 2014. The design takes its cue from tailgates and features a convenient, one-handed tailgate latch. It lays flat against the drop wall, and the open top beam makes it easy to clean! This is standard on Model 8127s and an option on Model 8117.

Pierce and Roll

The pierce and roll system is used in the construction of the roof of each Featherlite livestock trailer. Used by airplane manufacturers, the pierce and roll system drives high strength rivets into the aluminum, but no hole fully pierces the roof’s skin. Instead a secure, water-resistant crown forms up and around the bottom of every rivet, reducing opportunities for water leakage. Standard riveting used by others can create hundreds of holes in the roof of a stock trailer where water can infiltrate if rivets or openings become worn. In addition, Featherlite’s arched aluminum roof is stronger and functions to allow rain or snow to run off more efficiently.

Heavy-Duty Crossmembers

Featherlite stock trailers have a support system second to none underneath the trailer. 4-inch crossmembers run every 12” under most livestock trailers to support your heavy cattle loads.

Wiring Harness

With Featherlite stock trailers, wires are bundled in a protective jacket, known as the Featherlite wiring harness. Wire harnesses provide a watertight seal, protect against wire wear and tear and make connecting them easy. Without the harness, the individual wires would hang loose and unprotected. Note: Model 1570 fuel trailer doesn't include the wiring harness but uses a protective jacket to the trailer body.

Safety

All Featherlite trailers meet federal safety standards.

Axles & Brakes

Featherlite models feature E-Z Lube axles and forward adjusting brakes as standard features on models with axles of 2.2K through 8K. The E-Z Lube axles make bearing lubrication quick and easy with an E-Z Lube cap that allows for easy access, extra protection and virtually no mess. Forward adjusting brakes adjust to proper clearances during travel allowing you to stop with confidence. It also eliminates the need for manual brake adjustments, saving you time and money.

Some features may not be standard on all models and may vary by model year. See your Featherlite dealer.
