The Ransom community is gearing up for another exciting Oktoberfest celebration.  Now in its sixth year, Oktoberfest has become a thriving community event with something to offer for all ages and interests.   The 2014 event promises to be a great time for all ages.  The day will kick off with vendors along Vermont Street at noon.  There is no cost for a vendor space; however, advance notice is preferred. At noon the Sidewalk Chalk Contest will begin, also along Vermont Street.  From one o'clock to five o'clock, children's entertainment will be provided by the Ness County Amusement company.  Parade entries will line up at 1:30 p.m. around the high school square and the parade will proceed down Vermont Street at two o'clock sharp.   Following the parade, free children's games in the street will commence.  A wide array of games will available for children of all ages to participate in.  Following the children's games, adult street games will take place.  New for this year will be toilet/ plunger races, which is sure to be exciting for both participants and spectators.   Many food vendors will be on hand all day to ensure no one goes hungry, no matter their taste.   Music will be provided by 9ine Foot Squirrel from 4:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.  Known for their performances as a high energy rock band, 9ine Foot Squirrel will perform a variety of music ranging from 70's metal to modern rock.   Following 9ine Foot Squirrel, the Jason Boyd Band will take the stage with its signature country/red dirt act.  The Jason Boyd Band will perform from 6:30 until 10:30.  This four hour act promises to keep the dance floor hopping and the good times rolling.   For any questions or more information, please contact Andrew Flax at (785) 731-1196.
