Description

The Kansas Department of Transportation is looking for a dependable, trainable, team player with good communication and good computer skills to become part of our family.  Currently hiring an Engineering Associate l  position located in Hays

This position will provide effective leadership and technical work in engineering that directs on-site inspection of contractor’s operations, equipment, construction signing, safety measures, EEO procedures and wage rate sufficiency’s, reviews procedures and inspection techniques at sources of supply and distribution of materials incorporated into projects and reviews adequacy of design of material combinations. Oversees, directs, or assists the activities of technical crews on assigned projects such as large and complex roadways, interchanges, or bridges. Such crews will be charged with the inspection of materials and construction operations to ensure that the intent of the plans and specifications are carried out. Supervises the preparation of periodic and final reports such as contractor’s payment vouchers, weekly contractors report, log of pile driving, etc. Reviews plans and specifications, supervises preparation of all necessary field books and supervises computation to substantiate all plan quantities.

Due to the nature of the work, incumbent may/will be required to work additional hours when needed, including nights and weekends.

Education

  • Graduate from an ABET (Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology) accredited engineering school.

Licensing & Certification

  • Fundamentals in Engineering (FE) or EIT Certificate within first year of hire.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Civil Engineering
  • Fundamentals in Engineering (FE) or EIT Certificate obtained

This position is subject to pre-employment physical and drug testing.  This position is full-time, unclassified with benefits. 

HOURLY WAGE  $29.03 PER HOUR ($60,326.00 YEARLY)
