OVERVIEW:  Patient financial services representatives are responsible for handling the billing and collection of payments from patients who receive medical treatment at HCHC. This includes but is not limited to processing insurance claims, scheduling appointments, and providing general customer service to patients. This position will be split between Patient Financial Services and Materials Management.  Materials Management assistant will be responsible for but not limited to handling inventory, dispursement of supplies, stocking shelves and all inventory management duties assigned by the manager.

 

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

·        Update and verify patient information at every visit

·        Assist patients with filling out patient history forms, consent forms, and payment contract forms

·        Receive and process cash and credit card payments for medical services rendered at the facility

·        Review patient accounts, identifying any delinquent accounts and collecting overdue payments

·        Answer, investigate, and/or direct patient inquiries or complaints to the appropriate medical staff member

·        Coordinate with insurance companies to ensure that claims are processed accurately and on time

·        Review insurance forms for accuracy and filing them with insurance companies or government agencies such as Medicare or Social Security

·        Handle billing inquiries from patients regarding their account

·        Communicate with patients any and all billing issues, insurance coverage changes, and other concerns related to financial matters

·        Assist with inventory management functions ie dispursements, receiving, counting, clerical computer tasks, and expiration date monitoring

·        Stock shelves in Central Supply and Nursing locations

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:

·        Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or its equivalent

·        One to three months related experience in a clerical clinical setting and/or training; or successfully completed a secretarial science program from an accredited school/college
