The Area Grain Supervisor oversees multiple grain elevator facilities in a specified trade area. The Area Grain Supervisor is experienced in elevator operations and assists location managers with important decisions, operations, maintenance, and personnel issues. The Area Grain Supervisor must have five or more years of experience in a grain storage facility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Instructing and assisting location managers with grain handling procedures

·       Providing routine maintenance to facilities using the tools provided, and the ability to discern when it is time to call the maintenance team for assistance

·       Completing forms, confirming the safety of, and observing bin-entry procedures

·       Testing and maintaining safety harnesses and training employees on their proper use

·       Conducting monthly walk-throughs at each facility, noting areas which need cleaning and maintenance

·       Monitoring housekeeping and records of repair for each facility

·       Conducting required safety training, as requested by the Safety Director, and completing required documentation

·       Attending monthly supervisory meetings as well as annual safety trainings as scheduled

·       Monitor and report expenditures for each facility using an online expense management program

·       Managing employee concerns and issues and working to solve issues with professionalism and fairness

·       Manage full-time employees’ work schedule, including sick time and vacation time

·       Hiring and scheduling of part-time seasonal employees

SKILLS AND CERTIFICATIONS

·       Receive and maintain a 7B Pesticide License

·       ARC Flash Certification

·       Attend Grain Grading School

·       Must possess a clean driving record

·       Ability to communicate effectively by phone, text, email, or written documents

·       Maintaining and promoting a positive atmosphere among employees

·       Ability to communicate with farmers about their grain storage needs or concerns

·       Ability to calm a farmer in the event of a mishap at a grain storage facility

·       Willingness to be a team-player and help the company, not just as a member of a department

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ABILITIES

·       Climb ladders

·       Shovel grain

·       Sweeping

·       Standing or long periods of time

·       Lifting and bending

·       Loading and unloading trucks

·       Ability to listen and identify malfunctioning equipment

·       Operate equipment such as a tractor, auger, truck, grain stacker, etc.

·       Utilize tools such as but not limited to welder, cutting torch, wrench, hammer, electric drill, screwdriver, etc.
