The Ellis County Public Works Department is hiring a full-time Mechanic.

Currently running Spring/Summer schedule of Monday - Thursday 7:00 am - 5:30 pm. Fall/Winter schedule is Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.  No nights, weekends, or holidays (unless declared disaster or weather event).

Pay Range:  $21.20-$30.55/hr + opportunity for a step/pay advancement after 6 months. 

This position performs skilled and semi-skilled mechanical and electrical work on small and heavy equipment, and vehicles assigned to the Ellis County Public Works Department.

Position Requirements:

1. High school diploma or other equivalent
2. Two years of mechanic experience preferred

Certifications / Licenses:

1. Valid Class B commercial driver’s license with tanker endorsement
