Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital's Emergency Department is looking for a full-time ER/Outpatient Supervisor.

The ER/Outpatient Supervisor directs all functions of the Emergency Department/Outpatient and coordinates cardiac rehabilitation intake and stress testing services in providing patient care. Responsible for directing RNs, Emergency Techs, and clerical staff. Responsible for the department budget, productivity, and ensuring that the department provides quality care to patients. This role combines direct patient care with supervisory responsibilities, ensuring high-quality, safe, and efficient care is given. Provides care for all ages: pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and the geriatric population. Demonstrates a commitment to high expectations of performance and supports staff who consistently meet those expectations with enthusiasm and a great attitude. Demonstrates leadership in assuring that all staff in the departments are highly motivated, positive, and committed to only the highest quality interactions with all customers. Leads by example with honesty, trustworthiness, and genuine enthusiasm.
Essential Job Functions
- Promotes an atmosphere of harmony both within the department and with all other TCLMH staff and customers.
- Supports and carries out the hospital’s policies and procedures.
- Communicates appropriately and clearly to physicians, staff, Directors of Nursing services and administration.
- Assists with the coordination of performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
- Assures documentation meets standards and regulations.
- Treats patients and families with respect and dignity; ensures patient confidentiality.
- Demonstrates the ability to be flexible and organized.
- Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
- Maintains current ACLS, PALS, ENPC, and TNCC.
- Assures E.D. compliance with all governmental and regulatory agency guidelines.
- Keeps abreast of EMTALA compliance.
- Follows the five medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
- Assures our patients receive a head-to-toe assessment and reassessment as per policy. This includes the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations.
- Assures our patients receive adequate assessment and reassessment of pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
- Ability to monitor the hemodynamic status of patient and correctly interpret the results.
- Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac monitoring; identifies dysrhythmias and treats appropriately.
- Accurately assigns triage categories.
- Interacts professionally with patients and family and involves patient and family in the formation of the plan of care.
- Formulates a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluates the effectiveness of learning; includes family in teaching, as appropriate.
- Maintains current knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on the age of the patient and his/her clinical condition.
- Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
- Maintains a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families in accordance with Hospital standards.
- Ensures an adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment.
- Assists in cost containment through appropriate ordering and conservation of supplies and equipment.
- Cooperate with other personnel to achieve departmental objectives, maintain good employee relations, and achieve interdepartmental objectives.
- Demonstrates the ability to assist physicians with procedures.
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Kansas.
- Previous experience in the Emergency Department.
- Strong cardiac care knowledge and experience, including emergency cardiac response.
- Current certification in CPR, ACLS, PALS, ENPC, TNCC.
- Work two 12-hour shifts per week, providing hands-on ER or Acute Care coverage
- Participate in a once-a-month weekend rotation covering ER or Acute Care coverage.
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Additional languages are preferred.
- Intermediate computer knowledge with the ability to use systems.
