Barton Community College seeks a replacement for the Director of the Shafer Art Gallery. Qualifications: Minimum of two years of experience in art gallery operations, including exhibition planning, collections care, and day-to-day gallery management. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in art history, art instruction, museum studies, or a related field. Duties: The Director provides leadership and oversight for the Shafer Art Gallery as a cultural and educational asset of Barton Community College. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, and managing rotating exhibitions; overseeing the care, security, preservation, and documentation of the permanent art collection and works on loan; maintaining files, records, reports, and gallery web content; coordinating publicity and promotional efforts; and planning and hosting exhibition receptions and related programs such as speakers or artists’ talks. The Director works with faculty, students, volunteers, donors, civic organizations, and community partners, supervises student employees and volunteers, and provides educational and creative programming through the Glenn and Elaine Mull Family Art Cart Program.
