Compensation:

  • Annual Salary Range:  $63,356.80 - $66,518.40
  • Hourly Pay Range:  $30.46 - $31.98

Position Summary & Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

This Highway Maintenance Supervisor position works in the District Three office located in Grainfield KS. This position is necessary for the operations of the agency to maintain the system, equipment, and facilities in a safe and efficient manner. This is supervisory work directing the highway maintenance activities for a specific geographic region.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Manages a subarea shop with a crew of Highway Maintenance Workers to perform pavement repair, bridge repair, drainage improvements, and roadside repairs.
  • Responsible for maintaining the subarea roadway and roadside features to an acceptable level of service and providing a safe and efficient transportation system for the traveling public.
  • Provides guidance to the Highway Maintenance Assistant Supervisor in preparing a schedule of work to be accomplished, making daily work assignments, and monitoring crew performance for quality and quantity of work accomplished.
  • Acquires the resources needed to perform the planned work.
  • Responsible for overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of the buildings, grounds, and equipment assigned to the Subarea.
  • Performs general supervisory functions including interviewing and selecting prospective employees or promotional candidates, coaching employees, resolving disputes among crew members, and conducting employee performance reviews.
  • Operates a pickup daily and performs physical tasks in the maintenance of equipment and the highway.
  • Due to the nature of the work, this position may be required to work additional hours when needed, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Five years of experience in highway maintenance
  • Two years of lead worker or supervisory experience that meet the needs of the Agency.
  • Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency. Transcripts are required for education to be considered.
  • Valid Class A CDL at the time of appointment.
