Decatur Health – Oberlin, KS Position: Quality & Risk Management/Compliance Officer Status: Full‑Time (1.0 FTE)
Decatur Health is seeking a highly motivated Registered Nurse to serve as our Quality, Risk Management & Compliance Officer. This leadership role oversees regulatory compliance, risk management, patient safety, and quality improvement programs within our critical access hospital.
Primary Accountability
This position provides leadership and coordination for the organization’s QAPI program, incident reporting, investigations, compliance activities, regulatory readiness, and performance improvement initiatives. The role partners closely with clinical and operational leaders to support a culture of safety, transparency, and continuous improvement.
Major Duties
Lead QAPI program activities, data collection, analysis, reporting, and improvement projects
Coordinate quality reporting (MBQIP, NHSN, patient safety indicators)
Facilitate performance improvement teams and present reports to leadership and the Governing Board
Implement and maintain the Compliance Program consistent with OIG guidance
Conduct audits, monitor policy adherence, and coordinate compliance education
Serve as a resource for HIPAA, EMTALA, and regulatory interpretation
Oversee incident reporting, investigations, grievances, and service recovery
Facilitate root cause analyses and action plans
Ensure timely reporting to KDHE, CMS, and other regulatory bodies
Coordinate mock surveys, tracers, and corrective action plans
Maintain current regulatory knowledge and communicate updates
Collaborate with CNO, CEO, department leaders, and medical staff
Participate in Quality, Compliance, Safety, and Risk committees
Supplemental RN Duties
Provides occasional clinical support within scope of licensure in inpatient, ED, outpatient, or clinic settings during staffing shortages or organizational needs.
Regulatory Requirements
Graduate of an accredited nursing program
Current Kansas RN license
BLS certification (or willing to obtain upon hire)
Willing to obtain TNCC, ACLS, and PALS
Minimum 2–3 years of healthcare experience; quality, compliance, or risk management experience preferred
