The Kansas Department of Transportation is seeking a detail-oriented professional to support district HR operations that help keep Kansas moving forward!
KDOT is currently hiring an Administrative Specialist for the District Three Office in Norton, Kansas.
Job responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Assists in the recruitment process for the district, which includes answering questions from the public on open positions, scheduling interviews when needed, reviewing requisition files for completion, and maintaining the district position tracking spreadsheet.
- Responsible for communicating district training and registering employees in classes in the Learning Management System (LMS) and coordinating with the ODU team in the Bureau of Human Resources to establish courses.
- Responsible for tracking district employee performance review program, prepare reports and distribute to supervisors and managers for notification and tracking.
- Prepare and process Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Parental Leave requests through Bureau of Human Resources.
- Entering personnel transactions, i.e., new appointments, promotions, transfers, demotions, terminations, retirements, pay increases, leave without pay and return from leave without pay, address changes, tax withholdings and exemptions, direct deposits, etc., for district complex employees. Analyzes new Shared Leave requests, reviews for completeness, calculates hours needed for committee review, and completes processing.
- Provide payroll assistance in reviewing KDOT Employee Time Confirmation Report, and Preliminary Warrant Register for correct entries and pay adjustments, verifying district complex time and payroll transactions and adjustments, correcting leave discrepancies, compute correct leave balances to determine corrective action.
Compensation:
- Annual Salary Range: $36,171.20 - $37,024.00
- Hourly Pay Range: $17.39 - $17.80

Minimum Qualifications:
- Two years of experience in general office, clerical, and administrative support work.
- Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency. Transcripts are required for education to be considered.
- Valid Driver’s License at time of appointment.
