For over four years, JTS CDL Training has proudly served the WaKeeney community, helping more than 250 students earn their Commercial Driver’s License and launch successful driving careers. We provide a supportive, hands-on learning environment focused on building safe, confident professional drivers.

We are seeking an experienced, patient commercial driver to manage our training lot and lead Behind-the-Wheel (BTW) instruction. In this role, you will focus entirely on hands-on practical skills—no classroom or online teaching required, as students complete all theory before reaching the yard.

This is a low-stress, flexible opportunity to share your industry experience, mentor upcoming drivers, and take pride in their success.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee yard operations and conduct hands-on Behind-the-Wheel training.
• Instruct and evaluate students on Pre-Trip Inspections, Backing Maneuvers, and On-Road Driving.
• Coach experienced drivers to sharpen their skills for test readiness.
• Teach foundational techniques (shifting/floating gears, tight-space backing, road awareness) to entry-level trainees.
• Maintain a positive, supportive, and safety-focused training environment.

Schedule & Ideal Candidate

• Flexible Hours: We are open to hiring either a Part-Time or Full-Time instructor depending on your availability. The schedule fluctuates with student enrollment, offering natural breathing room between training cycles.
• Great Fit: Perfect for semi-retired drivers, owner-operators, or experienced CDL holders who want local, steady work without long-haul demands. We value a dependable leader who enjoys mentoring and sharing real-world road knowledge.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
• Prior commercial driving experience; manual transmission experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills with a patient, encouraging approach to coaching.
