BEK MECHANIC

Assess and complete mechanical repairs in a timely and professional manner on customer equipment and company fleet. Inspect all completed work to ensure that quality maintenance standards are met. Ensure proper use and care of physical assets, prevent and/or minimize equipment failures.

• Diagnose, repair and maintain company fleet and customer vehicles/equipment -

Oil changes, grease trucks/trailers, troubleshoot/repair electrical systems, light mechanical work on trucks and cars (alternators,
belts, starters, bearings, wheel seals, water pumps, exhaust, etc.), brakes, AC and tire repairs.

• Communicate with manager and customer(s) on recommended work, changes and job status.
• Must be able to perform vehicle inspections required under Section 396.13 of the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Regulations and complete repairs.
• Complete all work specified on maintenance and repair accurately and efficiently.
• Thoroughly and accurately complete work orders verifying customer info, equip., services, labor, parts, etc.
• Operate and ensure all service equipment (jacks, tools, trucks) are in good working order.
• Observe safety and security procedures; report potentially unsafe conditions; use equipment and materials properly.
• Keep shop clean and uncluttered at all times.
• Other assigned duties.

Requirements

An individual must be able to perform or learn these essential duties satisfactorily. The list below is representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required.

Qualifications/Preference:

• HS Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record required; prefer CDL, Tanker and Hazmat or ability to secure after hire.
• Five years of heavy truck maintenance experience preferred.
• Familiar with FMCSR requirements, maintenance and repair for trucks and heavy equipment.
• Familiarity with computers helpful
• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Requires flexibility and ability to change priorities to meet the demands of the operation.
• Discipline and self-motivated with excellent time management skills.
• Strong work ethic and be dependable; regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.
• Furnish own tools.
• Formal training or be willing to complete training courses upon hire.
• Experience with tire repair, and be able to perform repairs on a variety of tires including ATV, automotive, heavy truck, industrial or AG tires.

Physical Demands:

• Requires ability to stand for up to 8 hours and lift up to 50 pounds; ability to talk and hear, sit, stand, walk for extended periods; use hands and fingers to handle or feel and to manipulate; stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, push or pull; and ability to see with close vision; communicate with others verbally (telephone and in person) and using written communication.
• While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles and confined spaces, and wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
