Some of the services provided include Lab Draws, Family Planning, Immunizations, Foot Care, School Nursing, Physicals, STI Testing, Blood Pressure Screenings, and Worksite Wellness. With collaboration from Citizens Health, we also offer Becoming A Mom® classes for expectant mothers. Our department also manages The Breastfeeding Boutique which is located within our office. The Breastfeeding Boutique is your source for breast pumps, nursing bras, and a variety of breastfeeding products. Our office hours are Monday-Friday 7:00 am – 5:00 pm and closed on national holidays. Job Description
- Perform essential job functions in compliance with County and Health Department policies and procedures, Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE), Kansas State Board of Nursing and other state/federal guidelines, always maintaining patient privacy/confidentiality
- Conduct physical assessments and screening on infants, children, adolescents, and adults according to program protocol using the nursing process
- Provide routine maintenance foot care services including assessment, nail trimming, callus reduction, patient education, and referral when indicated
- Participate in communicable disease epidemiology, including contact investigations, data gathering, and monitoring compliance with therapies
- Coordinate and provide school nursing services on a scheduled weekly basis to support health, safety, and wellness of students and staff
- Provide community education, counseling, and intervention for at risk and well populations using appropriate techniques to support learning and behavior change working closely with Administrator and RN Supervisor
- Demonstrate working knowledge of Immunization Registry (WebIZ), Quest Diagnostics (Care360), Disease Investigation System, Data Reporting System, and Electronic Health Record System (Athena); Working knowledge of Word processing, Excel spreadsheet, and Outlook calendar software
- Perform monthly inventory and maintain temperature data loggers for all immunizations; manage Family Planning and Sexually Transmitted Infections medications, performing a monthly inventory
- Assist licensed provider with Family Planning appointments; Distribute and administer methods of birth control to clients under the direction of licensed provider and according to policy and procedures
- Perform veni-puncture lab draws and specimen collection following policy and procedures
Qualifications
- Valid Kansas Registered Nursing license without restrictions
- Valid Kansas Driver’s License
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate; can be obtained after hire date
- Excellent communication, organization, and prioritization skills
- Ability to meet requests of variety of professionals and work in a team environment
